Synopsis: On Friday, December 14, 28 lives were lost. 21 of those innocent victims were children between the ages of 5 and 10. A mentally unstable man, age 20 shot his mother and then went to the school, targeting the children, to shoot them and kill them. Many people are blaming the guns that murdered the children at sandy hook, when they forget about the man who killed them. Is the right to bear arms really the solution?
Analysis: Adam Lanza was very mentally unstable. People usually say, "It's his mother's fault for possesing guns with such an unpredictable mind living in the house" or "why would she even have guns?". I am telling you this. It was not Adam Lanza's fault. It's not his mother's fault. It is society. It is the hospitals that do not help people overcome their mental illnesses. Adam Lanza was a victim of his mental disorder, and it ruined his life. His mother worked very hard to keep him out of trouble. Adam was very intelligent, and apparently very quite and fidgety. His mother loved her two sons and gave her life for them. She worked to let Adam live his life and gain responsibillity. She wanted him to be normal.
“It looked like he was getting it, which was hard considering the
circumstances,” Tambascio said. “She was trying to get him into real life. It
was very difficult for her, and it was getting harder and harder as he got
older. Like for any of us, life gets harder once the real responsibilities
come.” (Washington Post).
Adam Lanza is among others who have been victims of their mental disorder. In an article, "I am Adam Lanza's Mother", a woman gave her perspective on the tragedy and spoke about her son, who is also mentally unstable. She stated in an interview on NBC that her son would threaten to kill her, and then apologize and be himself again. It seems that her son was fighting between himself, and the disorder.
Parents of children, and adults, should not be alone when their child has a disorder that is threatening to the safety of their famiily, and the community they live in. There is a great need for asistance to people with mental disorders. Financially, Mentally, and Physically, these families are in need of assistace.

The Fiscal Cliff
Synopsis: With the growing national debt of 16 trillion dollars, the United States is in a hindrance of the near fiscal cliff. Legislation has been trying to figure out a plan for the economy by January, 2013. After extending the debt ceiling in July from 14.3 trillion to 16.4 trillion, Legislation and President Barack Obama have been collaborating to negotiate spending cuts and new budget plans, and will continue to do so until they find a solution to the economic distress.
Analysis: The Economy has not been doing very well for the past 5 to 6 years, and our National Government has been trying to create a budget plan that will improve the economy and create a profit for the US as a whole. There is a proposition to end the Bush Tax cuts, and any others that have been ensued. Boehner, the Speaker of the House, has proposed taxing the upper class to keep the middle class out of poverty, and allow them to have upward mobility. There is also alot of talk of cutting medicare by increasing the age to around 66. People seem to be sick of this recession, and want the Government to agree on something and go with it. When the debt ceiling was raised in July, there were many people wondering why they were putting these budget plans off. There is much to be done in the white house, and it seems that no one will know exactly what is going on until late January of 2013. It seems that the Republicans are more focused on spending cuts, like always, and the democrats are putting their faith in increasing revenue. Congress is mostly republican, and with a democratic president who is not very eager to cut spending, things seem to be going no where.

Catholic Church Losing Rights?
Synopsis: In efforts to liberalize America, President Barack Obama has been forcing the Catholic Church to adjust to modern day changes; specifically, abortion. By forcing private-owned Catholic hospitals, insurance companies, and organizations for aid of expectant mothers to allow and enforce contraceptives and abortifacients, the U.S. government is disregarding the ways of the catholic church.
Analysis: The Roman Catholic Church is being directly persecuted. There have been many accounts of President Barack Obama unequivocally and precisely addressing the ways of the Catholic Church and disregarding the beliefs of them. Bishop Alexander K. Sample stated that the government is, “denying to Catholics our nation’s first and most fundamental freedom, that of religious liberty”. Private Catholic organizations are going to be shut down as of August if they do not support abortaficents. This includes Catholic funded charities, motherhood centers, insurance companies, and hospitals. It seems that in quest to create a liberal America, President Obama is forcing people to conform; specifically the Catholic Church.
Early Americans (puritans) came to America to escape the religious persecution forced unto them by the Catholic Church in Europe. It seems that the tables have turned and the Catholic Church has become something of deserving little respect and acknowledgement. The government needs the CC's support of hospitals, etc. Although there is a "religious exemption", it has specifications that are impossible to be met. They must qualify as a "religious employer", meaning their entire job has to do with their religion, only employ people who coincide with their religion, and serve people who only associate with that religion. Whether or not the CC would qualify for this exemption is still up for debate.
